Hey yo! So, I remember before leaving for Japan I lent out some stuffs to people...mostly books, I believe. I don't remember who exactly has what (or really what exactly I lent out), but if you have a book or two, I was wondering if you could remind what you have, and if you're done can I possible get it back to add to my alphabetized book shelf? Muchas gracias!

Heat stroke, mild starvation, dehydration? It's a mystery what's wrong with me today, but those are the top three contenders. The weekend was very Lost-ful, which is a good thing. Oh, Sawyer. :D Crazy thinking I only work two days this week (also mildly alarming - no work means no pay!). Warped Tour on Wednesday (dear God, I don't want to die in this heat) and then to Seattle for the rest of the week/end to visit Megan. Yay! On a sad note, the 4 gig SD card I bought for my camera cannot be read by it. And I can't return it because it's out of the package. I guess there really is something to say for reading the specs before buying new technology. :( Ho-hum. Maybe I'll go watch some more Rome if I can't get my Lost fix. :)

The Sound of Music is so fun. I'd like to marry George (or however you spell Gay-org) Von Trapp, I think. And make clothes out of curtains. Good times.
And that is all. :)

I hate Sundays.
In high school, I thought it was because Sunday was the dreaded Whataburger Day.
More recently, I've thought it was because on Sunday I had to attack all the homework build-up from the weekend to survive class on Monday.
And now, I'm pretty sure Sundays just suck because they're Sundays. It must be written somewhere: "And Sunday, thou shalt suck, because thou sucketh."
And it's a lovely Sunday, with the sun shining, the mourning doves purring outside my window, and I can't think of a single thing I want to do. I can think of many things I *should* do, but none that I really feel up to tackling.
Oh, Sunday. And then there's that other thing. It means that tomorrow's Monday. Le sigh.

This weekend is the official annual Spring Party Weekend, abbreviated SPW, which I like to call (occasionally fondly, occasionally with disgust) "spew." If I call you this weekend, I may in fact be ridiculous, and say generally ridiculous things. If you are in no mood to deal with this sort of ridiculousness, feel free to not answer your phone, or even hang up on me if it suits your fancy. That is the warning I felt duty-bound to convey to my lovely friends. :) Also, have a fantastic birthday, Megan! Additionally, I have a killer sunburn. I will have to post a scandalous picture of it soon. :D

What are your all-time favorite music videos? I mean, not just videos for your favorite songs, but videos that are fabulous in and of themselves. I'm trying to make a video playlist of deliciousness, and I am in desperate need of input since I haven't watched MTV or VH1 in a very, very long time. I've already got Cobra Starship, AFI, and The Killers covered. Please suggest away! :D

Winter is killing me. What with snow, and wind, and chilling rain...and muddy boots. For some reason I become very unhappy when my boots are muddy. I just finished a novel for my French class, "La symphonie pastorale," and the end was very sad. Perhaps not so much sad as heartbreaking. I love French literature, but the best ones are always a bit heartbreaking. So now I'm depressed. And it's still Monday. Also depressing. Aaaaaand I was stood up last night. But that's all beside the point. I WANT SPRING.
Saturday night was the SVP, better know as the Swedish (Vodka) Party. There were Swedish meatballs, and Swedish fish, and Swedish cookies, and, of course, Swedish vodka (Svetka, to be precise. Absolut was too expensive). A surprising number of people showed up, and it looked like everyone was having a good time. Probably because I was in charge of the music. :) Made some new friends, got to chat with some acquaintances and get to know them better...and I got to wear my purple '60s dress. Until drunken Santi dumped vodka down my back. Well, I mean, I was still wearing the dress after that, but...in fact, I slept in it. I also have a mysterious bruise on one of my knuckles. So yeah, good party. :D
Usually as the semester wears on classes become more tolerable, but this semester everything seems to be getting worse. I hate my Japanese class. Japan Through Lit. and Film isn't much better. We have to watch a freaking anime adaptation of the Tale of Genji for film lab this week. That is *not* film, thank you very much! The Statistics professor has taken to busting out pop quizzes lately. French is okay, but I'm pretty sure my last paper was a bomb. Seriously though, Japanese is the worst. Le pire. 最悪。
Syracuse this weekend, Syracuse this weekend. A dim light flashing at the end of the tunnel.

Already into week...three, is it? Ugh. Things are going as they usually do at school, with the added bonus of having my own room and usually edible food to eat for dinner. It wasn't too cold today, and the snow melted enough that I could see stripes of grass through the not-quite-permafrost. Drama is keeping my stress level high, although it is drama of the internal kind, created by external factors I don't know how to control/fix (annoyingly ambiguous and imprecise, I know). Study group fallout. Readjustment fallout. I have a cold and I'm starting to break out (zit in my dark undereye circle - didn't know you could get 'em there), and I'm trying to decide if it's from stress or just from living in a small town where disease incubates quickly (not that that explains away the zits). Working on finding a job and things to do with my life and maybe an idea of what to do with my life, as the end of college is quickly approaching, I find... I'm much more productive when I'm extremely busy. And being extremely busy will keep me from thinking too much. On a more amusing note, I got invited to a red-light district party this weekend, where the attendees are supposed to dress like streetwalkers. How sketchy is that? :)

Yo, what up kids. I've made it to New York safe and sound. My room in the apartment is huge. It's cold. I'm bored out of my mind. I'm also surrounded by my junk just begging to be put away, so I guess I could do that and it would help with the boredom. Despite this boredom, I don't want class to start tomorrow. Yeeech.
Like I said, bored out of my mind. I have back entries of the daily haiku written on a piece of paper somewhere, but it hasn't emerged from the move-in rubble yet. So, for yesterday and today...
January 19th: Glad to be back here Come in my room and you just, Fuck things up. Thank you.
January 20th: Snow, snow, everywhere What, you say it's ten degrees? Hermit I become.

Cinnamon, ginger, Nutmeg: Smells like December Two-five on Jan. 6
So I've been writing food-related haikus lately. Nothing wrong with that, right? Ma made gingersnaps, and they taste best hot out of the oven. I made a pecan pie, but have not yet mastered this particular pie's baking technique - thus, it was mushy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Never fear, I will prevail eventually!

Santa was sexually assaulted in Connecticut. A woman sitting on his lap at the mall groped him.
First of all...what was a woman doing sitting on his lap? Isn't that for the kiddies? Second of all...why? Poor guy, getting groped while just trying to do his job. (What am I talking about? He probably liked it.)
A surgeon took a picture of a patient's penis with his cell phone during surgery because it (the penis) had the words "hot rod" tattooed on it. He (the surgeon) is now facing "disciplinary action."
And to finish it off...one of AZ's House Reps is going to jail for 10 days for a DUI.
All the news that's fit to print, huh.
Oh, by the way, I'm home. :D

I will be leaving Kyoto tomorrow (tear!) for the small fishing village in Toyama, where I will be "interning" for a few days at a Japanese sweet shop. Then it will be off to the faraway island of Ogasawara for the rest of my time here, and then I'll be home on the 14th of December. I don't know if I'll have internet access for any of the rest of the trip, so if you don't hear from me on LJ or FaceBook or email or whatever, it's probably because I'm in remote rural areas that don't like Wi-Fi. Just wanted to give people a heads up, so they don't think I've fallen off the face of the earth. Ciao, and see y'all in a month!

I'm having a minor mental breakdown. Yo wants us to change our flights home for the 13th of December (so we can actually go to Ogasawara). That by itself is not so bad, but since I probably can't change my flight, I'll just have to cancel the original ticket and buy a new one, one way from Narita to Phoenix...which I just checked, and it costs $1600. More than my original roundtrip ticket. WHAT THE FUCK. I will not pay. That is freaking ridiculous. ::dies::

Hi kids. Japan is fun. Monday I actually have to start going to class. I'm scared of Kansai-ben and my host family (whom I haven't even met yet). I know, calm down! I'm trying. But I went to this Buddhist temple today and did the fortune thing, and I got a BAD one. REALLY BAD. So now I'm scared of everything because the monks told me my life SUCKS!
Moving on, if I for some reason haven't already told you about it, you should check out my travel blog website photo album video files amalgamation of DOOM. It is fun! At least, I hope it is. I'm a bit behind in the journaling department, but I think I might catch up on the looong ride to Kyoto. Here's the link: http://web.mac.com/janislabelle/
Let me know what's going on with y'all. I'm having mucho fun abroad, but I still feel quite a bit disconnected from everyone! I'm working on buying some stamps soon, so I can send out the first batch of postcards.
Well, most go organize my life. Ciao!
